Very early in the morning, the farmer opens the big doors to the stable building so he can feed the animals and muck out their stalls. He is very proud of his Black Angus bulls and they love the amazing new massage machine. “Calm down,” laughs the farmer. “You'll all get a turn!” Today, they get turnips. In order to ensure the animals always have enough to eat, the farmer uses the rope winch to lift feed up to the hayloft. He stores it there for cold winter days. There are lots of things to discover, operate and rebuild on the big farm. Tending to the animals is a lot of work. Their stalls need to be mucked out, new straw needs to be put down and they need to be fed. The farmer loves his work and wouldn't want to swap places with anybody.

The sloth spends almost its entire life in the trees of tropical rainforests. Its curved claws give it a firm grip on the branches of the trees. Since it always hangs from the branches upside down, the sloth's fur grows from its belly towards its back, instead of growing from its back or head. This allows rainwater to drain away better.

Thoroughbreds are very fast, slender racehorses that are descended from Arab horses. They are primarily used for flat racing. Since they are very sensitive to cold, they need a large padded blanket to keep them warm, even in the stable.

Pintabians come from North America. They are a cross between Arab horses and Pintos with spotted coats. Only horses that are 99% Arab and have a “tobiano” coat pattern can be officially registered. Due to this strict rule, only a few hundred horses have been registered in the studbook.

Pintabians have a white coat with large coloured patches, white legs and a white back. The breed has only been officially recognised since 1992 and so is still very young. It resulted from horse breeders' fascination with crossing purebred, single-coloured Arab horses with Pintos with spotted coats.

The hay conveyor with farmer is the perfect expansion for the Schleich farm and tractor. It makes it child's play for little farmers to transport hay bales up to the hayloft in the farm, as the hay conveyor can be adjusted to different heights too. All the Schleich figures are lovingly hand-painted with detailed modelling.

In “saddle bronc riding", a wild horse (also known as a “bronc") is saddled. Once the cowboy or cowgirl has mounted and given a sign, the chute to the arena is opened. The horse charges out, bucking wildly, and the rider can only hold on to a rein on the saddle with a single hand. If they touch the horse with their other hand, they lose points. Like in bull riding, the cowboy or cowgirl needs to stay on for at least eight seconds. But it's not just about the time: the rider gets additional points if the horse bucks very strongly.

You can often see large feed silos on farms. The feed for the animals is stored in tower-like structures. These structures keep the feed fresh and clean. The feed silo also protects the feed from hungry mice and rats that would otherwise keep nibbling enthusiastically at the bags of feed. The farmer fills the silo from the top until it's full. To take feed out, he opens a hatch at the bottom of the silo using a lever and empties the feed directly into the trough when required.

The Giganotosaurus was a giant relative of the Tyrannosaurus Rex. Giganotosaurus was a powerful predator in the Late Cretaceous period. It is easy to be confused with the more famous Tyrannosaurus Rex. But experts know that the bones of the Giganotosaurus were more robust and his teeth were shorter than those of its famous relatives. He also had a small brain. Both were very dangerous animals in any case.
